LEARNING OUTCOMES

🔵 🔴 🟡 Course description

The course introduces basic theories and modern approaches to the pedagogy of movement, as it has been shaped through the pedagogy of dance. Theoretically and experientially, models of dance pedagogy are examined and the way in which they respond and contribute to the developmental stages of man and to different stages of education, drawing examples from educational systems, such as in Great Britain and the USA, where dance has been systematized in education. The course also studies social/artistic currents such as "community dance" and the evolution of applied dance practices. Through the analysis of examples of works/programs/artists/artistic groups, and experimentation with the practices they apply, the student elaborates and analyzes pedagogical approaches as applied to different social groups.

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Recognize and analyze pedagogical approaches to dance and their different social applications
  • Experiment with and apply appropriate creative teaching methods in contexts such as education, different social groups and health
  • Analyze and place dance practices and applied pedagogical approaches within relevant theoretical frameworks
